Rehabilitated, Piers & Steel Beams Added - 1956
Destroyed By Fire - 1961
Reconstructed Without Cover - 1962
Reconstructed With Burr Trusses and Cover - 2002

Right down the street is the Brandywine River Museum featuring art by Howard Pyle, N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth... The birthplace of modern American illustration.

Normaly I would hate this because of the subject matter (I have seen a million bad covered bridge pictures) but this is realy nice. It is achetecturaly interesting and somehow moody at the same time. Nice work!

Yes, the subject matter is a little cliche, but I grew up with the drawings of Eric Sloane... So when I came across this bridge on such a nice day, I had to stop and draw it.
